The video's creation was entirely based on data meticulously collected by ESA's Mars Express spacecraft, which has been orbiting Mars for two decades. The Mars Express, equipped with its High Resolution Stereo Camera, has been diligently mapping the Martian surface in extraordinary detail. Beyond surface mapping, it also conducts extensive research into the planet's atmosphere, geological composition, and even its tiny moon, Phobos. To produce this immersive "virtual flight," researchers integrated an image mosaic from observations captured during a single Mars Express orbit with a digital terrain model, generating a comprehensive 3D representation of the planet. Each second of the film is composed of 50 individual frames, all meticulously rendered along a predetermined camera trajectory.
