Carnival Cruise Line Announces Major Enhancements to Its Loyalty Program
2025-09-15

Carnival Cruise Line has unveiled significant upgrades to its forthcoming Carnival Rewards program, designed to provide enhanced benefits for its most dedicated passengers. These revisions, influenced by extensive customer feedback, are slated to go into effect on June 1, 2026. The new structure aims to foster deeper engagement and offer more substantial rewards, setting a new benchmark for loyalty initiatives within the cruise industry.

Christine Duffy, President of Carnival Cruise Line, expressed her enthusiasm for the updated program, emphasizing its role in recognizing and appreciating long-standing guests. The company’s commitment to listening to its customers has resulted in a program that not only introduces innovative features but also solidifies the status of its top-tier members. This strategic overhaul reflects Carnival's dedication to delivering exceptional value and experiences to its cruising community.

A cornerstone of the revised program is the introduction of lifetime Diamond status. Guests who attain Diamond tier in the existing VIFP Club by May 31, 2026, will secure this elite status indefinitely, moving beyond the previous six-year limitation. This permanent recognition is a direct response to feedback from highly loyal cruisers, ensuring their dedication is rewarded with enduring privileges and exclusivity.

Platinum members are also set to receive notable enhancements. Those who achieve Platinum status before the May 31, 2026, deadline will be granted a bi-annual bonus of 10,000 Carnival Rewards qualifying stars. This bonus, commencing at the program's launch and recurring every two years, provides a substantial advantage, offering a 20 percent head start towards maintaining Platinum, advancing to Diamond, or securing Gold status in subsequent cycles.

Recognizing the importance of family travel, Carnival has confirmed that children will inherit the loyalty status of the adult on their booking. While direct enrollment for minors is not possible until they reach 18, those who achieve Diamond or Platinum status with their parents by the 2026 cutoff date will be invited to opt into Carnival Rewards with their earned status, ensuring family groups can enjoy their collective benefits.

Furthermore, Carnival is actively investigating avenues to extend comprehensive earning and reward opportunities to guests in Canada and Australia, mirroring the benefits available to U.S. customers through the Carnival Rewards Mastercard. This expansion aims to make the program more inclusive and accessible to a broader international audience.

Upon its official launch, Carnival Rewards will distinguish itself as a pioneering loyalty scheme in the cruise sector, drawing inspiration from successful airline and hotel models. The program will enable guests to accrue status and rewards based on both their travel frequency and expenditure, with the flexibility to convert earned points into reward dollars. These credits can then be utilized for cruise fares, onboard amenities, excursions, and a variety of other vacation-related experiences, offering unparalleled flexibility and value.

The revamped Carnival Rewards program underscores Carnival Cruise Line’s dedication to valuing its loyal customer base. By integrating guest feedback and introducing innovative features like lifetime status, enhanced bonuses for Platinum members, and family benefits, Carnival is poised to offer a loyalty experience that is both rewarding and unique in the cruise industry.
