A groundbreaking scientific endeavor is underway as the oldest ice ever retrieved from Antarctica embarks on its journey to Europe. Operating at an elevation of 3,200 meters and enduring average summer temperatures of -35°C, they successfully drilled down to a depth of 2,800 meters, reaching the bedrock beneath the ice sheet.
